This study aims to map the level of vulnerability of forest and land fires in an effort to support the realization of forest fire management strategy in Bengkalis Regency by considering land cover aspects, soil type, rainfall, height of place and settlement distance. This research was conducted in Bukit Batu sub-district, Kab. Bengkalis. This research uses survey method in collecting secondary data and primary data. The data analysis was done with each observation parameter. The results of this study indicate that the level of fire vulnerability in Bukit Batu Subdistrict is divided into two classes, namely very high and high vulnerability. Most of Bukit Batu sub-district has a very high level of vulnerability. High vulnerability area has 27,533,611 Ha (22,49%) and very high 94,915,83 (77,51%). Where the determining factor that plays a major role in influencing the high level of vulnerability in a location that is land cover, rainfall, and soil type.
ABSTRACT Bungus district of Kabung Bay is a growing region located at coastal zone of southern city of Padang, west sumatra. As a growing region, the Bungus district brings some impacts on population increase and degradation of environment quality. Therefore, it is needed an effort to identify land use changes and the distribution of land use in this region from the year of 2003 until 2013. This research used landsat 7 imagery in 2003 and landsat 8 imagery in 2013. The data were analysed descriptively using geographical informastion system. The result showd that (1) swamp land cover experienced the smallest land use change between 2003 until 2013 (0.02 ha/yr), meanwhile forest land use had the biggest change of about 224.8 ha/yr. The biggest addition of land cover belong to settlement area about 47.59 hectare, and the other hand occur on bush about -31.68 hectare. Galur is one of the sub-district in KulonProgo Regency. Its land usage is dominated in intensive agricultural usage. The various type of the agricultural activities in study area has different type of land productivities depends on its land capabilities. Land capability analysis with landform approach become the base in this study to identify the sustainable “land utilization type” (LUT) and the land productivity optimal value in Galur sub- district. Observation, measurement, and interview was done by using the Land Classification and Land use Planning (LCLP) tool. Landforms that has productive value identified in this study are: alluvial plain (IId-3), beach ridge (IIIP-2), and beach (VIIIP). The usage of alluvial plain could be rice-(corn/nuts)-rice or could be replaced with rice-chili-rice. The usage of beach ridge could be the planting of plantation crops such as melon, onion, and chili, and could be the farming of goat and chicken. Land usage type in beach is left naturally because it has land capability type VIII (low capability).
