Long-term smoking effects can cause a decrease in salivary pH to be more acidic. To investigate the correlation of smoking habit and salivary pH on smoker students in the South Kalimantan Student Dormitory in Yogyakarta. This research is an analytical survey with a cross-sectional design, sampling was done by purposive sampling method and the sample used was 39 smoking students who have smoked with a minimum period of 1 year. The results were analyzed using Kendall-Tau correlation test with SPSS program. Smoking habits in the student smokers are included in heavy smoking habits (61.5%), whereas saliva pH was mostly included in the acid salivary pH criteria (64.1%). Results of cross-tabulation as many as 56.4% of smoker students have a heavy smoking habit with acid salivary pH. The test of statistical analysis obtained significance value (p) of 0.000 with Kendall-Tau correlation coefficient of -0.727. The p-value (0.000) < 0.05, meaning that the results showed a significant relationship between smoking habit and salivary pH. There is a significant correlation between smoking habit and salivary pH on smoker students in the South Kalimantan Student Dormitory in Yogyakarta.
Satisfaction is a feeling or perception of patients arising from the health performance that occurs after the patient compared towhat to expect. The number of patients visited Dental Service Center at Petanahan Community Health Center Kebumen inOctober-November 2016 went up and down. This reaserch is aimed to know patients' satisfaction level at the Dental ServiceCenter at Petanahan Community Health Center, Kebumen. The type of research was descriptive research. The researchwas conducted at Petanahan Community Health Center, Kebumen. The number of samples was 40 respondents withdetermination of the sample by purposive sampling. Criteria of respondent were 20-45 years old, graduated from junior highschool (minimum), and willing to be the research respondent. The patients' satisfaction level research was conducted afterthe patient received dental and oral health care and completed a questionnaire containing 20 statements. The resultsshowed the satisfaction level of patients in the category of very satisfied as much as 26 respondents (65%). Patientsatisfaction level seen from the comfort dimension showed 60% of respondents are very satisfied, seen from the dimensionsof reliability and professionalism officials 70% of respondents feel very satisfied and seen from the dimensions ofresponsiveness and empathy 67.5% of respondents feel very satisfied. It can be concluded that the level of patientsatisfaction on Dental Service Center Puskesmas Petanahan Kebumen entered in the category very satisfied as much as 26respondents (65%).
One of the hazards in dentistry is dental ergonomic. A working problem that can be caused by ergonomic hazards is Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). The dental assistant is one of the jobs that have a risk for the occurrence of abnormalities in the musculoskeletal system. Based on the preliminary study on dental assistants that work in Pontianak City showed that 85% of people had musculoskeletal complaints on the legs, 71,4% had complaints on the calf, and 57,1% had complaints on the shoulder and upper back. The aim of this research is to find out the correlation between risk factors of dental ergonomics and subjective complaints of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) on dental assistants. The type of this research was a quantitative study with an analytical observational approach using a cross-sectional design. The research was conducted in Pontianak City in August 2021. The population of this research is 48 respondents and the samples were chosen using the total sampling technique. The instrument that used in this research were collected from the risk factors of dental ergonomics and Nordic Body Map (NMB) questionnaires which were later analyzed using Kendall's tau-b test. The result of this research is risk factors of dental ergonomics in the low category is 54,20%. The subjective complaints of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) in the low category is 68,80%. Based on Kendall's tau-b test showed that P. Value is 0,601 > 0,05 it means that there is no correlation between risk factors of dental ergonomics and subjective complaints of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). The conclusion of this research is there is no correlation between risk factors of dental ergonomics and subjective complaints of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) on dental assistants. For further research is expected to examine other risk factors that can cause subjective complaints of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). Salah satu unsur bahaya dalam dunia kedokteran gigi adalah dental ergonomi. Masalah kerja yang dapat ditimbulkan akibat bahaya ergonomi adalah Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). Pekerjaan dental assistant merupakan salah satu pekerjaan yang memiliki risiko untuk terjadinya keluhan pada sistem musculoskeletal. Hasil studi pendahuluan pada dental assistant yang bekerja di wilayah Kota Pontianak menunjukkan bahwa 85% responden mengalami keluhan musculoskeletal pada bagian kaki, 71,4% pada bagian betis, dan 57,1% pada bagian bahu dan punggung atas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara faktor risiko dental ergonomi dengan keluhan subjektif Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) pada dental assistant. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan observasional analitik menggunakan rancangan cross-sectional. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kota Pontianak pada bulan Agustus 2021. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah 48 responden dan pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik total sampling. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner faktor risiko dental ergonomi dan kuesioner Nordic Body Map (NBM). Analisis data menggunakan uji Kendall’s Tau-B. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah faktor risiko dental ergonomi berada pada kategori rendah (54,20%). Keluhan subjektif Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) berada pada kategori rendah (68,80%). Hasil analisis data menunjukkan nilai P. Value sebesar 0,601 > 0,05 sehingga tidak terdapat hubungan antara faktor risiko dental ergonomi dengan keluhan subjektif Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah tidak terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara faktor risiko dental ergonomi dengan keluhan subjektif Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) pada dental assistant. Penelitian selanjutnya diharapkan dapat mengkaji faktor-faktor risiko lain yang dapat menyebabkan keluhan subjektif Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs).
People’s awareness to maintain dental and oral health continues to increase, including by orthodontic treatment. However, during orthodontic treatment period, patients may have a lot of complaints and discomfort, such as pain. Cooperative patient determines the outcome of orthodontic treatment. It can be seen from patient’s compliance to dentist’s instruction for regular follow-up. The research purpose was to determine the relation between pain after applying fixed orthodontic appliance and follow-up compliance of patients in Kusuma Dental Care Clinic. This research design uses correlational. The research was performed on September - December 2017. The population was all patients who used fixed orthodontic appliances who went to Kusuma Dental Care Clinic. Samples were collected by accidental sampling technique. Data analysis used Kendall’s tau correlation test. The research result showed that 15 respondent (48.4 %) had moderate pain after applying fixed orthodontic appliance and 18 respondent (58.1 %) comply with order for follow-up. There is no significant relation between pain after applying fixed orthodontic appliance and follow-up compliance of patients in Kusuma Dental Care Clinic (ρ=0,509).
