We report a successful repair of a ruptured tuberculous pseudoaneurysm of the descending thoracic aorta by endovascular stent graft placement. This procedure is starting to be accepted as an alternative method to surgery, and we review similar cases in the literature.
During CPB, serum S100beta protein level increases and this increase is higher in the nonpulsatile group. High serum level of S100beta protein is associated with increased levels of serum inflammatory mediators and systemic inflammatory response.
CPB-related whole body inflammatory response could be partially inhibited by intraoperative PTX administration. This effect of PTX would be helpful in preventing the well-known complications of CPB-induced systemic inflammation.
A unique case of right atrial myxoma originating from the septal leaflet of the tricuspid valve is described. The tumor was detected by echocardiography and resected along with part of the septal leaflet, followed by primary repair.
