The function of education in the national education system were formulated to develop capabilities and shape the character and civilization of a dignified nation in the context of educating the nation's life, which is directed at developing the potential of students to become human beings who believe and fear God Almighty, have noble character, healthy, knowledgeable, capable, creative, independent, and become a democratic and responsible citizen. Based on this, national education has a function and purpose in forming good character for students. In this study, the concept of Muslim personality is discussed in the terminology of Mukmin, 'Muslih', Mujahid, 'Mutqin' and 'Muta'awin' from the view on educational interpretation (Tafsir Tarbawy). In addition, it was seen its relevance to the current character education. The method used was Library Research which focused on the study of thematic interpretation of education (Tafsir Tarbawy Maudhu'i). The results of this study obtained that the concept of character education mentioned in the Koran can be formulated in the form of a balanced remembrance and thought, consistently carrying out worship, and leaving the bad and carrying out all forms of goodness. The relevance of personality to character education can be seen from efforts to educate and learn the soul to have an attitude of faith above a straight faith, worship according to instructions and noble character. As for the soul of 'Muslih', Mujahid, 'Mutqin' and 'Mutaawin', it can be seen from the efforts for him to continue to learn to teach knowledge, preach by preventing the bad and inviting to the good, patient attitude, cooperation (mutual cooperation), and trying the best (professionalism) from every situation.
