A total of 29.4% of South Sinai children had some form of visual impairment, 90.32% of which comprised refractive errors (mainly astigmatism) which were significantly corrected with eyeglasses. VA screening and correction of refractive errors are of the utmost importance for ensuring better visual outcomes and improved school performance.
This study was carried out during the 2019 and 2020 seasons at the Agricultural Research Station of Al-Marashda to study the effect of three types of growing media and four levels of NPK fertilization on the growth characteristics and chemical composition of the seedlings of Inga edulis trees. The experiment comprised four NPK treatments; 0 (control), 1.5, 3, and 4.5g NPK/ pot. The applied growing media; sand, clay, and sand: clay (1:1 v/v). It was set in a split-plot design with four replicates; each contained four plastic pots. The main plot included the three growing media, the subplot included the four mineral fertilization treatments; to give 12 treatments. It's obvious that planting of I. edulis seedlings in the sand: clay growing medium resulted in the highest values of growth parameters. Regarding the effects of the used treatments on the leaf content of nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, chlorophyll a & b, phenols, and flavonoids, it is clear that growing seedlings in the sand: clay mixture; with 4.5 g/ pot of NPK fertilization gives the highest values of these components. It can be concluded that to obtain vigorous seedlings with a high content of nutrients, phenols, and flavonoids of Inga edulis, they should be grown in a mixture of sand and clay (1: 1 v/v) with monthly fertilizing by 4.5 g/ pot of NPK.
Two field experiments were carried out at the experimental station of National Research Centre, at Shalakan, Kalubia Governorate during the two successive growing seasons of 2004/2005 and 2005/2006 to study the additioneffect of sulphur levels (0, 150 and 300 kg/fed.) and nitrogen source (cattle manure, compost, ammonium nitrate and ammonium sulphate) on growth, yield and bulb quality of onion plants cv. Giza, 20.Results show that the vegetative growth i.e. plant length, number of leaves, fresh and dry weight of leaves, neck and bulb diameter, bulbing ratio as well as fresh and dry weight of bulb as well as bulb yield and some physical and chemical characteristic (bulb weight, diameter and height as well as bulb content of TSS, N, P, K, total protein and total carbohydrate) were significantly increased by increasing the level of S-application.Results also clear that the vegetative growth characteristic and bulb yield and its quality recorded their highest values by using ammonium sulphate as nitrogen source, however, cattle manure gave the lowest values of vegetative growth and bulb yield.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
