ÖZ ABSTRACTToday, it is frequently argued in literature that in this century, wherein societies are visibly undergoing rapid change, this change is also effected men. Men are being forced to change due to technological progress and women and their struggles for freedom as well as the efforts for equality by the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. This change can be observed in mass communication. Today, as evidenced in several studies, it is obvious that men are no longer visible in magazine advertisements just as their classical gender roles which portray men as dominant, powerful, insensitive and careerist. It can be observed that they have been used as objects of sex appeal in advertisements.In this study, four magazines, (FHM, Boxer, Esquire, and Men's Health) published for men were analyzed. Magazine advertisements for Turkey's issues between January 2013 and December 2013 were examined. In total, 659 advertisements were examined; dublications are removed. Corporate Communication activities are based on providing information on behalf of the organization as well as receiving information from the environment of the organization. In order to be preferred by the target group of the universities, to gain value amongthe society and to increase its success as a result of this, it is necessary to carry out the corporate communication activities in the most correct way. As in all other institutions, it utilizes various communication tools while conducting corporate communication activities in universities. With the rapid changes in information communication technologies, social media, which has entered into our lives, has become an effective tool for the preparation and maintenance of recognition and promotion activities of institutions. Universities, on the other hand, started to take part in these channels in order to realize corporate communication activities and take advantage of the opportunities offered by social media. Within the scope of this research, the use of Instagram in terms of corporate communication studies of the universities has been revealed with a descriptive analysis. Descriptive analysis attempts to reveal the current situation. In the study, Instagram pages showing the activities of foundation universities in Turkey were examined with content analysis. As a result, it was seen that; universities, use Instagram as a social media tool in their corporate communication activities; they care about to be on Instagram to carry out corporate communication studies. It was also seen that the foundation universities which were subjected to this research had some deficiencies to manage their Instagram pages.
TV Commercials, Child and Consumption: Are You Stylish or Not? The meanings attributed to the objects of consumption begin to become more valuable than the objects themselves. The advertisers who are aware of this situation try to convey these meanings to people through various messages. This effort is also directed towards children. Children are exposed to concepts such as fashion, conspicuousness and superiority even at their early childhood periods. Besides, when children are encouraged to be like an adult with consumption objects, the situation becomes more crucial. In this research, qualitative research method was used; data were collected by semi-structured interviews. The data obtained from the interviews was analyzed by descriptive analysis method. In this study, the thoughts of children about fashion concept, opinions about clothing produced in adult style, their perception about the general purposes of advertisements, the meanings that they attribute to the consumption objects they see in advertising and the role of family on shopping preferences were examined. Hedef kitle ve paydaş gruplarının gün geçtikçe kurumlara karşı daha talepkâr olduğu günümüzde sosyal sorumluluk tüketici beklentileri arasında ilk sıralarda yer almaktadır. Sosyal amaca dayalı pazarlama hem bir kurumsal sosyal sorumluluk girişimi olarak hem de bir kurumsal sosyal sorumluluk iletişim şekli olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Kurumlara pazarlama ve sosyal sorumluluk faaliyetlerini tek bir potada eritme imkânı sağlayan kilit bir faaliyet olarak algılanmakta ve uygulanmaktadır. Bir kurum veya markanın ürünlerinin satışından elde edilen gelirin bir kısmını sosyal bir faydaya ya da konuya bağışlaması olarak özetlenen kavram geleceğin altın pazarlama ve halkla ilişkiler araçlarından biri olarak kabul edilirken, bir yandan da uygulayıcı kurumun motivasyonundaki samimiyete yönelik şüpheler taşımaktadır. Bu çalışmada, geleceğin tüketicileri üniversite öğrencilerinin sosyal amaca dayalı pazarlama faaliyetlerine yönelik genel tutumları tespit edilmiş, bu tutumun sosyal amaca dayalı pazarlama faaliyeti gerçekleştiren bir kurumun motivasyonuna yönelik algı ile bir ilişkisinin olup olmadığı araştırılmış ve sosyal amaca dayalı pazarlama faaliyetlerine yönelik tutum ile kurum motivasyonuna yönelik algının kurum imajıyla ilişkili olup olmadığı irdelenmiştir. Çalışmada veriler nicel veri toplama tekniklerinden anket tekniği ile toplanmıştır. Ankette kurum motivasyonu ve kurum imajına yönelik ifadeler güncel bir sosyal amaca dayalı pazarlama kampanyası örneğiyle birlikte verilmiştir. Sonuçta tutum ve algıların demografik değişkenlere göre farklılaştığı ve kullanılan ölçekler arasında istatistiki olarak anlamlı ilişkilerin var olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu sonuçlar arasında üniversite öğrencilerinin kurum motivasyonuna yönelik olumlu tutumlarının şüpheci tutumlarından daha yüksek olması, SAP faaliyetlerine yönelik genel tutum açısından kadınların erkeklerden daha yüksek tutum seviyesine sahip olmaları, kadınların SAP faaliyeti gerçekleştiren kurumların motivasyonuna yönelik olarak erkeklere göre daha fazla olumlu tutum sergilemeleri yer almaktadır.
