El texto presenta, por primera vez, un panorama situacional de las revistas científicas peruanas vigentes. A partir de los registros de LATINDEX y luego de un proceso de depuración, se identificaron 138 publicaciones y se caracterizaron sobre la base de cinco variables: procedencia geográfica, organización editora, periodicidad de publicación, formato de distribución y área temática. Se encontró que, en su mayoría, las revistas peruanas son editadas en Lima (66.7%) por una universidad (73.9%), tienen una periodicidad semestral (56.5%), circulan tanto en formato impreso como electrónico (67.4%) y publican principalmente artículos sobre ciencias (agrícolas, de la ingeniería, exactas, naturales y médicas) (35.5%). El estudio señala, además, ciertas situaciones desfavorables y oportunidades de mejora en el sector editorial científico peruano.
The purpose of this study is to explore the availability and use of printed, audiovisual and electronic information by high school teachers in the areas of Communication, Social Sciences and the Person, Family and Human Relations from a sample of public schools of Lima, as well as to ascertain teachers' perception regarding their information needs and interests. This study was carried out by means of surveys, focus groups, semi-structured interviews and observation of the sites, equipment, library collections and innovative education classrooms. The results of this research may be useful for the educational authorities to determine institutional policies that promote teachers' professional development and ongoing education as well as improving the quality of teaching and learning.
