A 30-year-old male patient presented to the Emergency Medicine Department with a history of aspiration of the outer cuff of the tracheostomy tube accidentally while coughing. Patient was tracheostomized 2 years ago after organophosphorus consumption in view of prolonged ventilation. The patient was discharged from the hospital after 3 weeks of hospitalization with a metal tracheostomy tube. He was advised appropriate follow-up in the ENT clinic. The patient failed to follow-up for the next 2 years and was self-cleaning the tube as instructed by the ENT physician. After 1 year, patient changed the entire tracheostomy tube by himself. The current tracheostomy tube was 1 year old by the time of presentation.
