In this study, the effects of blended learning on the middle school students' academic achievement level and product evaluation scores were investigated. Blended learning provides more effective learning outcome gains through enriching todays' developing Web Technologies with learning environments. This study was carried out with a total of 53 students enrolled in the experimental group and control group in the 6 th grade classrooms during the 2014/2015 school year in a middle school in southwest part of Turkey. The intervention lasted 7 weeks. During the seven weeks, the unit of "problem solving, computer programming and development of Software product", covered in Educational technologies and Software course, is taught through blended learning environment. The experimental group was taught using blended learning environment which supported with enriched web technologies (such as video-conference, Learning Management System, Discussion blogs, etc.). Whereas the experimental group was given access to all these enriched contents that are presented to the control group only during the classroom environment through present teaching methods. The design of the study includes quantitative method. We collected quantitative data such as academic achievement test and product evaluation scale. Academic achievement test and product evaluation scale were used as quantitative data collection sources. Quantitative data was collected through the evaluation of students' projects that they developed during the process of the study and the academic achievement tests. During the data analysis phase, independent t-test, frequency and ANOVA tests were used. As a result of this study, it is concluded that blended learning environment had generated a significant difference in students' academic achievement on behalf of experimental group. Implications of the study for the educational environments were discussed.
This research aimed to determine the opinions of teacher parents about distance education process during COVID-19. The study was designed as a case study which is one of the methods in qualitative research. The sample of the study composed of 83 teacher parents from different branches in Turkey. Maximum variation and criterion sampling methods were used to select the participants. The data of the study were gathered though open ended questions developed by the researchers and were analyzed through descriptive and content analyses. According to the participants, distance education is perceived and accepted as a means of support rather than an alternative to face-to-face education. Participants mentioned the distance education carried out during the pandemic process as a beneficial practice in order to prevent students from breaking off from education but also they stated administrative issues, lack of computer science knowledge and internet-related problems. The inability to disseminate distance education to all students, especially disadvantaged students due to the lack of infrastructure, indifferent parents and the fact that distance education is insufficient in the education of young children/special education students show that distance education has not yet met the expectations to provide equal opportunities for everyone involved. Keywords: COVID-19, distance education, pandemic, teacher, parent
University life quality is a concept that affects students' self-perceptions, sense of belonging, attitudes towards the profession, alienation levels, motivations, democratic attitudes, communication skills and academic achievements in their education processes. It is affected by the open and hidden curriculum and influences these programs. Besides, this concept is influenced by the socioeconomic and cultural characteristics of the society, in which individuals live. The purpose of this study is to present the concept of "university life quality" theoretically within the context of University Life Quality Model developed by Sirgy, Grezeskowiak and Rahtz (2007), to examine how the concept is embraced and in this regard and to compile the related researches. The method of this study is literature review. Within this context, the data of the study has been obtained by reviewing the related books, theses and dissertations, and articles. The concept of university life quality is a concept that is examined in a multidisciplinary manner in international literature. When the concept is examined more specifically, it can be revealed that physical facilities of the faculty, the quality of the faculty member, the family structure of the student, the readiness level of the student, the attitude of the faculty administration, the budget allocated to the faculty, cultural, art and sports activities offered to students by the faculty affect university life quality. Universities with high levels of university life quality serve to community development by yielding individual improvement and qualified work force.

In this study, fundamental researches on “metacognition” in Turkey, Japan and Singapore between the years of 2010 and 2020 were examined and conclusions were made in terms of comparative education. For this purpose, the data of the research was collected by document scanning method and the data were analyzed using the document review technique, which is one of the qualitative research method techniques. Years of studies, countries, objectives, research methods, sample working group, data analysis methods and results; it has been examined according to comparative education approaches and data collection techniques. As a result, quantitative research methods are seen to be frequently used in researches on metacognition in these three countries. It has been determined that experimental studies are the main research patterns of the metacognition studies conducted in three countries. Metacognitive awareness scales are the most used data collection tools in all three countries. Considered in general; the research made about metacognition in Singapore Turkey and Japan shows that the studies investigating the relationship between students' problem-solving skills and metacognition are in majority. Researches examining the relationship between metacognition and foreign language teaching are also widely discussed.
