Dedicated to Professor Dr. H. Firouzabadi on the occasions of his 65 th birthday and retirement Room temperature Rap-Stoermer condensation of a-haloacetophenone with various 2-hydroxyarylaldehydes mediated by KF/Ab03 resulted in sole formation of good to excellent yields of various substituted benzofurans in the absence solvent or extra stimulant.

Xanthene derivatives R 0360Facile Montmorillonite K-10-Supported Synthesis of Xanthene Derivatives under Microwave and Thermal Conditions. -Activity, texture, and structure properties of the montmorillonite are investigated in order to study the reusability of the solid support. The microwave-assisted syntheses have the advantage of considerably shorter reaction times with comparable yields.
