Over the past ten years, depth electrodes were used to study intractable seizures in 44 patients. In most patients, the technique of on-line recording and stimulation of the depth electrodes with the patients directly connected to the recording and stimulating hardware could be used to localize the epileptogenic focus. In the few patients in whom this was impossible, telemetry to record spontaneous seizure activity was effective. One case in which telemetry allowed delineation of the epileptogenic focus is presented.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
