258ChemInform Abstract In contrast to 2-vinylpyridine which does not undergo cyclometalation, the α-substituted derivatives (III) and (IV) give the novel dimeric cyclometalated complexes (VI) and (X). The pyridine and PPh3 monomers of these complexes are also synthesized and the existence of the Pd-C σ-bond is proven by an X-ray crystal structure determination of (VIIIb) (space group P21/c, Z=4).
