The non-uniform R C line, constructed from thin resistive and dielectric films, is a promising circuit element for microminiature oscillator circuits. The differential equation for voltage or current along such a line is a second degree equation with variable coefficients and involves an imaginary term. An exact steady-state solution of this equation has been obtained previously in two special cases only. The paper outlines two methods of obtaining a number of simple patterns of non-uniformity for which the line equation is exactly solvable. Some corresponding solutions for the line voltage are also given.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
