In studies dealing with the production of antibody in mice, it has
been found feasible to incorporate the antigen in Freund’s adjuvant
in order to stimulate a response with a single injection of antigen [8].
In the course of such a study a number of interesting hematological
changes have been noted. The present study describes such alterations
in the peripheral blood leucocyte pattern, following immunization
with BSA in complete Freund’s adjuvant, which are of especial
interest because of similarities to the hematological picture observed
in neonatally thymectomized mice [9, 10, 7]. Coterminus changes in
thymus and spleen weights are described, and the role of adjuvant
in inducing these phenomena is discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
