Although the application of electrical neuromodulation has yielded promising results, further studies such as optimising the operational parameters are necessary. Due to the fact that most commercially available stimulators are not suitable for animal experiments in terms of size, weight and structure, a programmable and implantable neurostimulator for treating chronic disorders in freely behaving small animals is developed in this reported study. This stimulator was compatible with different applications with reserved ports and software updating. The stimulator exhibited good performance and provided a platform for animal study on electrical stimulation therapy.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
