This paper presents the first results obtained on a smart material element made of a shape memory ahoy Ni-Ti fibre (without previous deformation) embedded in a resin epoxy matrix. When an ehectricah current is applied in the Ni-Ti wire, infrared camera permit to measure the surface temperature lateral faces. The integration of heat equation in a finite element code allows to obtain the local temperature of the resin and so predict its behavior. In the future for technological reasons (change of sample shape or resonance frequencies), the local stress-strain-temperatures fields wihi be obtained when heating a predeformed Ni-Ti wire embedded in resin produces recovery stress.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
