The aims of this study are to reveal how the forming processes of sovereignty through state of exception so it appears bare life, and how homo sacer attempt to face sovereign state in US movie. This analyses are focuses on political issues in American society under American government which is reflected in US movie. Political issues are taken up by analyzing the political movement which is taken by the goverment. After analyzing the political policies taken by the government, this research will reveal production and reproduction through state of exception in creating sovereign state. State of exception refers to ethnic and racist. This research uses of Jordan Peele's US movie and theory of sovereign & bare life according to Giorgio Agamben. This research applies descriptive qualitative method. The findings are the government gives different treatment to their citizens. The government gives special treatment to the society in general, while they exception and discrimination against the tethered. Exception and discrimination are the impact of the adaptation of law in order to fulfill the society needs.
Penelitian ini berusaha mengungkapkan subalternitas perempuan Bali pada masa kolonial dalam cerpen Api Sita. Mempelajari subalternitas dalam karya sastra berarti membaca dan menginterpretasikan pandangan seorang pengarang mengenai kondisi yang menjadi identitas kelompok subaltern. Oka Rusmini mengkombinasikan struktur dominasi kultural dan sosial dengan struktur dominasi politik dan militer dalam Api Sita. Sistem pengkastaan dalam masyarakat Bali menentukan struktur dominasi dan pandangan terhadap perempuan. Dominasi berlapis seringkali terjadi di kalangan masyarakat berkasta rendah terutama pada masa kolonial. Kedua hal tersebut digambarkan lewat tokoh perempuan dengan posisi yang subaltern. Secara tidak sadar kerangka berpikir perempuan telah dibentuk oleh sistem patriarki dan hal tersebut berangsur-angsur disadari oleh tokoh perempuan di dalam Api Sita. Tulisan ini menggunakan perspektif Subalternitas dari Gayatri Spivak. Sebagai metode, analisis narasi cerita digunakan dalam koleksi dan analisis data. Temuan dari tulisan ini adalah bahwa Oka Rusmini secara gamblang menghadirkan konflik-konflik tersebut melalui pengalaman perempuan sebagai bagian dari kelompok subaltern yang tidak mampu bersuara, bahkan hanya dalam bentuk pikiran dan harapan.
The objectives of this research are to describe the representation and the dependency of the East and West using Edward Said's Orientalism. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. The data collection method uses library research. The researcher watched The Forbidden Kingdom movie, then read books and journals that related to the topic. Data analysis was carried out by descriptive analysis between the data obtained and the explanation of the theory. The findings are the author represents the East through Lu Yan, The Silent Monk, Warlord, and Monkey King. Lu Yan represents a lazy and irrational person, The Silent Monk represents a harbored suspicion person, Warlord represents a depravity and inhuman person, and Monkey King represents a foolish person. The author also represents the East through the forests which have high grass and the deserts which have extreme weather. These places are dangerous and not friendly. The author also represents the East through citizens who are irrational and love violence. The author describes dependency on East to West, through China to Jason, while Jason is pulled by the golden staff to China in order to make China peaceful. AbstrakTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan representasi serta ketergantungan Timur dan Barat menggunakan teori orientalisme milik Edward Said. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan studi pustaka. Peneliti menonton film The Forbidden Kingdom kemudian melakukan pembacaan terhadap buku dan jurnal terkait dengan topik yang akan diteliti. Analisis data dilakukan dengan cara analisis deskriptif antara data-data yang diperoleh dengan penjelasan teori. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu pengarang merepresentasikan Timur melalui tokoh Lu Yan, Biksu Pendiam, Warlord, dan Raja Monyet. Lu Yan digambarkan sebagai sosok yang pemalas dan irasional, Biksu Pendiam digambarkan sebagai sosok yang memendam rasa curiga, Warlord digambarkan sebagai sosok yang bejat moral dan tidak manusiawi, serta Raja Kera digambarkan sebagai sosok yang bodoh. Pengarang juga merepresentasikan Timur melalui hutan yang mempunyai rerumputan tinggi dan padang pasir yang bercuaca ekstrim. Dua tempat ini berbahaya dan tidak bersahabat. Pengarang juga merepresentasikan Timur melalui kehidupan sosial warga yang irasional dan mendahulukan kekerasan. Pengarang merepresentasikan ketergantungan Timur terhadap Barat melalui China terhadap Jason yang diawali dengan ditariknya Jason oleh tongkat emas menuju China untuk membuat China damai kembali.
All living things have instincts. Every living thing has the instinct to survive and the instinct to die. The objectives of the research are to analyze the film entitled Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro using Sigmund Freud's Psychoanalysis theory and the stages of grief’s theory using Kubler Ross’s perspective. The researcher will focus on the actions taken by Kath, Ruth, and Tommy by explaining the life instincts and death instincts according to Sigmund Freud’s theory and the stages of grief experienced by Tommy using Kubler Ross's theory. This research uses a material object in the form of the film entitled Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro and a formal object in the form of the theory of life and death instinct according to Sigmund Freud’s perspective and stage of grief according to Kubler Ross’s perspective. This research applies the qualitative descriptive method. The findings are as follows: life instinct is carried out by Kathy and death instincts are carried out by Ruth and Tommy. In addition, the stages of grief experienced by Tommy are as follows: (1) denial, (2) anger, (3) bargaining, (4) depression, and (5) acceptance.
