Zingiberaceae is one of the natural resources used as a natural medicine by Colo Muria mountain villagers in Dawe District, Kudus Regency, Central Java. However, there is no particular study focusing on the use of the Zingiberaceae family in that area. This research aims to identify some species of the Zingiberaceae family utilized as a traditional medicine Colo Muria mountain villagers in Central Java. The data collection method is conducted by a semi-structured interview method, field observation, and documentation. The data was analyzed qualitatively. The result shows that there were 14 species utilized as traditional medicine by the Colo Gunung Muria villagers: Bangle (Zingiber purpureum Roxb), Ginger (Zingiber officinale), Red Ginger (Alpinia purpurata k. Schum.), Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum (l.) Maton), Kencur (Kaempferia galanga L.), Kunci (Kaempferia pandurata Roxb.), Turmeric (Curcuma domestica Val.), Bitter Ginger (Zingiber zerumbet), Lengkuas (Alpinia galanga (L.) Swartz), Parahulu (Amomum aculeatum Roxb.), Temu Lawak (Curcuma xanthorhiza Roxb.), Temu Giring (Curcuma heyneana Val.), Temu Hitam (Curcuma aeruginosa Roxb.), and Temu Putih (Curcuma zedoaria Berg.). The processing technique of the plants was in two ways: pounded and boiled. While the methods of use were by drinking (61%), rubbed (22%), direct consumption (9%), dripped (4%), and dicethik (squeezed and dripped 4%).
Orchid is one ofthe flowering plants with a very high level of diversity, including the diversity of morphological characters it has. This study aims to determine the diversity of orchids (orchidaceae) seen morphologically in the Ngalian sub-district forest in Semarang city. The method used in this study is cruise method and characterization techniques. Analysis of research data was carried out descriptively and displayed in the form of tables and photos. Orchids in the teak forest cover 940 ha, spread in 4 villages, namely Wonosari village, Gondoriyo village, Podorejo village and Wates village. The results showed that there were 3 types of orchid plants (orchidaceae). The types of orchids include Rhynchostylis retusa (L.) Bi., Rhynchostylis gigantea (Lindl.) Rindl. and Dendrobium crumenatum (L.) Sw. The diversity of morphological characters in each species of orchid such as diversity in leaf color, leafshape, leaftip shape, stem color, root type etc.
Passion fruit (Passifloraceae) was derived from tropical South America. Kind of passion fruit that widely cultivated in South Sulawesi is purple passion fruit (Passiflora edulis). This study aimed to observe the activity of Passiflora edulis chromosome at different stages of cell division and observed active mitosis time. The study was conducted by using exploratory descriptive study and obtained results a mitotic on Passiflora edulis occurs at 09.00 until 15.00 pm. Prophase seen in 5 minute after observation, prometaphase in 80 minute after the first observation, metaphase in 154 minutes after the first observation, anaphase in 227 minutes after the first observation, and telophase in 317 minutes after the first observation.
This study focuses on knowledge of medicinal plants that are used as raw materials by the sellers of jamu gendong. In addition, this study explores the types of jamu that are produced from those medicinal plants. The qualitative method was applied in this research because it can reveal the phenomenon of informants' knowledge and experiences especially concerning on medicinal plants utilization in producing jamu gendong. The research was conducted in Wonolopo Village, Mijen, Semarang, in 2018. There were 20 jamu gendong sellers volunteered in this study. There are 26 species of medicinal plants and 16 plant families are usually used as raw material in making jamu gendong.
