During the drilling process in urban pathways, some buried equipment may be damaged. Metal pipes carrying water, gas, etc are at risk of destruction. The damages may be occurred in the different direction on the pipelines. Thus, the main aim of the research is to investigate the influence of the notch orientation on the leakage pressure of repaired steel pipes. Hence, four through‐the‐thickness notches with certain length cut by a jackhammer were considered. These notches with the angle of 0, 30, 60, and 90° were created relative to the longitudinal axis and through thickness of the pipes. In order to repair the pipes, carbon/epoxy laminated composites system was used. The repaired pipes were examined by hydrostatic test. The results revealed that the maximum leakage pressure was obtained for the pipe with the non‐aligned notch of 90°. Moreover, the minimum leakage pressure was observed for the pipe with the longitudinal notch.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
