The objective of this study to describe whether the Project-based learning method can improve students’ reading comprehension at VIII F grade of SMPN 43 Surabaya. The research design uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. The time was arranged from May to September 2022. There were 39 students in the class. The class consisted 20 boys and 19 girls. The student’s score indicated the result of implementation. The students’ score increase. The Project-based learning method improved the students’ achievement in reading notice text significantly and helped the students become active and creative in learning. The Planning, Acting, Observing, and Reflecting of teaching-learning use of Project-based learning were successfully conducted. It can be shown that researchers can make a lesson plan and apply PJBL as a method in teaching reading Notice text. The teacher can combine Project-based learning with another method if conditionally to make students don’t bored while receiving the materials.
Tujuan Program Pengabdian Masyarakat adalah memberikan pelatihan kepada guru guru Bahasa Inggris se MGMP Kabupaten Mojokerto tentang sistematika penulisan proposal penelitian Tindakan kelas (PTK). Pelatihan ini diikuti oleh 35 peserta dari guru guru Bahasa Inggris SMP se MGMP Kabupaten Mojokerto. Metode pelaksanaan pelatihan ini adalah dengan pendampingan dan ceramah tentang konsep PTK yang dilakukan dengan daring menggunakan zoom, whatsapp, dan email. Berdasarkan hasil pendampingan, terdapat 6 proposal yang sudah di beri catatan dari Tim pelaksana untuk direvisi dan dikembalikan dalam waktu 1 minggu setelah pelaksanaan kegiatan. 29 peserta yang belum melakukan pendampingan proposalnya beri kesempatan untuk konsultasi melalui whatsapp atau email. Hasil peserta dapat mengidentifikasi kesalahan yang dibuat oleh peserta dalam proposal para peserta dan memberikan pembetulan terhadap kesalahan tersebut, misalnya kesalahan pada judul yang tidak mencerminkan karakteristik PTK, pendahuluan yang tidak focus pada masalah dalam kelas, dan metode penelitian yang tidak ditulis dan dijabarkan secara sistematis dan adanya kesalahan konsep tentang data dan sumber data, dan prosedur pengumpulan data. Classroom Action Research Proposal Writing Training for Middle School English teachers in Mojokerto Regency MGMP The objective of the Community Service Program is to provide training to English teachers throughout Mojokerto Regency MGMP on the systematics of writing classroom action research proposals (CAR). This training was attended by 35 participants from junior high school English teachers throughout Mojokerto Regency MGMP. The method of implementing this training is with mentoring and lectures on the concept of CAR which are carried out online using zoom, WhatsApp, and email. Based on the results of the assistance, there are 6 proposals that have been noted from the implementation team to be revised and returned within 1 week after the implementation of the activity. 29 participants who have not assisted their proposals, give them the opportunity to consult via WhatsApp or email. Results participants can identify errors made by participants in the participants' proposals and provide corrections for these errors, for example, errors in titles that do not reflect the characteristics of CAR, introductions that do not focus on problems in class, and research methods that are not written and described systematically and there are misconceptions about data and data sources, and data collection procedures.
