Background: Obesity is a worldwide lifestyle disorder and its incidence is growing at an alarming rate. Pancreatic lipase (PL) plays a key role in lipid metabolism and hence a potential target for obesity treatment. There have been reports that many bioactive compounds from natural sources are vast pool of PL inhibitors. Objective: In search of natural pancreatic lipase inhibitors, the review summarizes the potential of natural products for their pancreatic lipase inhibitory activity. Methods: In this review the data obtained from literature search across various electronic databases and journal article publications are reviewed. Results: The pancreatic lipase inhibitory activities of 61 biological sources were reviewed in this paper is backed by preclinical experimental evidence, either in vivo or in vitro. Conclusion: This article can be used as a ready to use reference for therapeutic lead molecules from plants, marine and insect derived natural products with PL inhibitory activity. The research is more focused on the discovery of more ingenious pancreatic lipase inhibitors with lesser consequences.
Rotula aquaticLour is an important medicinal herb in Ayurvedic system of medicine. The plant occurs as a small branched shrub that grows characteristically among rocks and trailing over pebbles in stream beds, belonging to the family Boraginaceae and widely distributed throughout India. It is commonly called as Pasanabheda in Ayurveda. As only few studies are done on this plant, the comprehensive review presenting here will summarize regarding its Phytochemical and Pharmacological activities with the help of available and update information. Various studies indicated the antiurolithiatic, hypoglycemic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anthelmintic properties of Rotula aquatica. Although the information are very encouraging and revealed some of the constituents of the plant like polyphenols and tannins as important therapeutically agents. The herb should be studied more extensively to confirm these results and reveal other potential therapeutic effects. Various traditional claims of the plant are still remain to be validated scientifically. Clinical trials for the reported preclinical studies should be performed urgently to further validate the claims on humans

In this scenario, effective protection and management of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) is essential, and India is fully committed to this. Similarly IPR and its policy framework equally contribute to development of any nation. This chapter attempts to provide information relevant to national and legal rules and policies regarding Intellectual property rights. Protection of traditional knowledge, Conservation of the rights of local and indigenous peoples to their knowledge and resources are equally important. In this regard, this chapter also discusses the concepts Biopiracy and Bioprospecting. All information is gathered from published articles and legal documents of respective countries and official websites of international organizations as these are the only sources of legal information.
