The vulnerability of communities in facing volcano disaster is one of the indicators of the low literacy of science. The low knowledge about volcanic material causes it needs to be packed in an attractive learning so that it can tap into the ability of students' science literacy by using teaching materials that are closer to student learning environments. This research aims to develop the local wisdom-based natural science module on the theme of Mount Kelud eruption, which is both theoretical and empirical. The type of this research development is Research and Development (R & D) by adapting the ASSURE instructional design. The results of this research are the validation results of theoretical feasibility of teaching materials based on the components of material feasibility of 87, 5% with very good category, components of presentation feasibility of 91, 7% with very good category, components of language feasibility of 88, 9% with very good category, components of local wisdom values of 87, 5% with very good category, and components of science literacy feasibility of 88, 9% with 88, 9% with very good category. The results of empirical feasibility are the test results of students' science literacy with N-gain variation value of 0,2; 0,3; and 0,4 respectively with low, medium, and medium category. The results show that the developed local wisdom-based natural science module is suitable to improve the ability of students' science literacy either theoretically or empirically.
The purpose of this research was to strengthen characters and ecopreneurship of students who enrolled in science, environment, technology, and society (SETS) course. The focus of the students' characters in this study included responsibility, discipline, creative and innovative, commitment, and cooperative. This course supports the students to develop ecopreneurship to create products from organic and inorganic waste treatments. To achieve the purpose of this research, a teaching and learning package including syllabus, lesson plan, and assessment criteria were developed using the Research and Development (R&D) method. A total of 42 science education undergraduates and two experts were involved in this research. The data were collected through validation sheets, observation sheets, and assessment of students'ecopreneurship products. The validation results showed that the developed teaching and learning package categorized as very good. In this course, six stages of learning were implemented including identifying a problem, making a plan, conducting an observation, collecting information, exhibiting a product, and writing ideas. The observation results showed that the overall developed teaching and learning package was effective to support the students' learning in each of the six stages. Moreover, the improvement in students' scores on the focused characters was observed. At the end of the course, the students' ecopreneurship products were also accomplished. Nine of the products were made of organic waste, while the two of them were recycled from inorganic waste. Thus, it concluded that the course of science, environment, technology, and society could strengthen the students' characters and ecopreneurship.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan modul IPA berbasis etnosains di SMP Negeri 3 Kota Mojokerto. Jenis penelitian ini menggunkaan metode eksperimen dengan desain penelitian Praeksperimental dengan menggunakan rancangan penelitian one group pretes posttest yang merupakan bagian dari penelitian dan pengembangan Research and Development / R&D) level 4. Penelitian ini diujicobakan terbatas kepada 15 siswa kelas VII-H SMP Negeri 3 Kota Mojokerto. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini antara lain berupa lembar tes keterampilan berpikir kritis, dan lembar angket respons siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan cara metode tes, dan metode angket. Hasil dari penelitian menggunakan modul IPA berbasis etnosains didapatkan bahwa dengan menggunakan perhitungan N-Gain diperoleh hasil 0,62 yang termasuk kedalam kategori sedang dengan dan hasil angket respons siswa sebesar 95% dengan kategori sangat baik. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modul IPA berbasis etnosains secara efektif dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa.Kata Kunci: modul IPA berbasis etnosains, keterampilan berpikir kritis.
