Results of calculations approximating the electronic Coulomb correlation energy of the two-electron atom in a spherical potential box are reported and discussed. Although the total electronic energy of such an atom varies rather widely with changes in the radius of the box, the correlation energy seems to be relatively insensitive to such changes except for box radii on the order of or smaller than the atomic radius.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
