In this paper we focus on an unrelated parallel workgroup scheduling problem where each workgroup is composed of a number of personnel with similar work skills which has eligibility and human resource constraints. The most difference from the general unrelated parallel machine scheduling with resource constraints is that one workgroup can process multiple jobs at a time as long as the resources are available, which means that a feasible scheduling scheme is impossible to get if we consider the processing sequence of jobs only in time dimension. We construct this problem as an integer programming model with the objective of minimizing makespan. As it is incapable to get the optimal solution in the acceptable time for the presented model by exact algorithm, meta-heuristic is considered to design. A pure genetic algorithm based on special coding design is proposed firstly. Then a hybrid genetic algorithm based on bin packing strategy is further developed by the consideration of transforming the single workgroup scheduling to a strip-packing problem. Finally, the proposed algorithms, together with exact approach, are tested at different size of instances. Results demonstrate that the proposed hybrid genetic algorithm shows the effective performance.
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to construct a grey clustering model based on the nonlinear whitenization weight function and to assess the safety of civil aircraft by using a quantitative method. Design/methodology/approach According to the running stage of civil aircraft safety assessment issues, first the civil aircraft safety evaluation index system is constructed by using a qualitative method. Taking the information duplication between indicators, the grey relational analysis method is used to filter the key indicators, then the grey clustering evaluation model of nonlinear whitening right function is built to evaluate the safety of civil aircraft and the algorithm steps of the evaluation model are given. Finally, the model is validated by collecting the parameters of nine different civil aircrafts at home and abroad. Findings The results show that the safety level of different types of aircraft is different due to the different index parameters, and to some extent, explain the rationality and scientificity of the method proposed in this paper to solve the problem. Practical implications This paper gives a complete set of security assessment methods, which can be used to evaluate the security of civil aircraft in the operational phase quantitatively, scientifically and reasonably. Furthermore, it can be extended to other complex system security or stability assessment issues. Originality/value It not only provides the supplement and perfection of the safety assessment method in the theoretical system to a certain extent, but also provides a theoretical guidance to solve the problem of civil aircraft system safety assessment of civil aircraft manufacturing enterprise all over the world. At the same time, the nonlinear grey clustering evaluation model constructed in this paper is an improvement of the traditional model, which is, to some extent, the improvement of the grey clustering evaluation theory.
The clustering evaluation can be used to scientifically classify the objects to be evaluated according to the information aggregation of various evaluation rules. In grey weighted clustering evaluation, the index clustering rule relies on the construction of the whitenization weight function, while the existing construction method of the linear function lacks the construction mechanism analysis and validity explanation. A normative construction principle is put forward by analyzing the construction mechanism of the function. Through proving the normative principle of the function, the basic modal function (BMF) is proposed and characterized by different function forms. Then, a new type of the whitenization weight function and its grey clustering evaluation model algorithm are given by studying the mechanism and nature of the construction of different forms of the function. Finally, the comparative study for self-innovation capability of defense science and technology industry (DSTI) is taken as an example. The results show that the different construction ways of the function have an effect on the clustering result. The proposed construction mechanism can better explain the index clustering rules and evaluation effectiveness, which will perfect the theoretical system of grey clustering evaluation and be applied to practice effectively.
