By means of person-directed interventions, emotional exhaustion level can be decreased. The fact that burnout reduces after the intervention and an increase is observed in 6 months is an important result. Repetitive interventions can render the effect to be long lasting. It is recommended that the number of intervention studies to reduce burnout be increased and that long-term outcomes be observed.
This study helps demonstrate the importance of psychosocial interventions in the treatment of schizophrenia. Recent advances in evidence-based psychosocial strategies can be implemented into routine clinical practice with additional clinical and social benefits.
Aim
The purpose of this qualitative descriptive study was to explain the experiences of Turkish survivors of breast cancer in the light of the Neuman systems model.
Methods
Interviews were conducted with 14 Turkish survivors of breast cancer. The data were analyzed by using directed content analysis. The data were categorized according to three concepts of the Neuman systems model (stressor, variable, and nursing intervention).
Results
The Turkish survivors of breast cancer suffered intrapersonal, interpersonal, and extrapersonal stressors but did not receive enough support from healthcare professionals during follow‐up appointments.
Conclusion
Nurses working with the survivors of breast cancer should be aware of stressors and positive and negative variables. The implementation of the Neuman systems model by nurses provides a systematic perspective and helps to increase the effectiveness of survivorship care.
Aim
The aim of this study was to explore secondary traumatic stress experiences of nurses caring for cancer patients.
Methods
A qualitative descriptive approach was taken in the study. The team conducted semi‐structured in‐depth interviews with 13 oncology nurses. We evaluated the responses collected using content analysis.
Results
Three distinct themes emerged from the interviews: cycle of desperation, coping, and change.
Conclusion
Based on the results obtained, it is suggested that programs containing cognitive restructuring techniques be developed; peer support groups may enable senior nurses to guide inexperienced nurses.
