In the present investigation molecular sieve has been found to be a suitable carrier for the immobilization of enzymes. From the present study it may be specifically found that trypsin and pappain can be immobilized by molecular sieve type 4a following a very simple techniqure. The immobilized enzyme can be used both in packed as well as in a continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR).
SummaryIn this investigation, the activation energies of the hydrolysis of N-(a)-benzoyl-Larginine ethyl ester (BAEE) and casein have been determined using trypsin immobilized on molecular sieve type 4A. There is a complete absence of intraparticle diffusion in the system, and the temperature dependence of the reaction has been studied only under external diffusional limitation. While the hydrolysis of BAEE by bound trypsin is found to be controlled by external diffusion, that of casein is kinetically controlled.
beta-Carotene, when supplemented in diet, has been found to increase the survival period of mice bearing a transplantable tumor, Dalton's lymphoma. Tumor cell-count, body weight pattern, hematological parameters like total count showed marked alterations in a dose-responsive manner with beta-carotene administration when compared to their untreated counterparts. Decreased tumor cell proliferation is also reflected by increased hemoglobin levels of the host.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
