An account of 14 species of Phyllopsora from India is provided. P. catervisorediata and P. himalayensis are described as new species, while P. corallina var. subglaucella as a new variety. P. albicans, P. breviuscula, P. chlorophaea, P. confusa,
P. isidiotyla, P. kalbii, P. mauritiana, P. nemoralis, P. subcrustacea, and P. swinscowii are new records for the Indian lichen biota.
Nine species of Leucodecton and nine species of Myriotrema are recorded for India. The recently resurrected Leucodecton accommodates species earlier placed in Leptotrema, Myriotrema, or Thelotrema, which were segregated based primarily on medullary
chemistry such as stictic and norstictic acids, although Myriotrema retains species with a prosoplectenchymatous cortex and psoromic or protocetraric acid chemosyndromes. This contribution includes new synonyms, changes in generic placement, new species distributions, and new records.
Leucodecton compunctum and L. subcompunctum are new records for India.
Two new foliicolous fungal taxa from Andaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal and Ponmudi forest areas of Kerala are described and illustrated. Meliola veebeehosagoudarii on Helicia excelsa is a new species while Asteridiella elaeocarpicola var. gadgilii on Elaeocarpus gadgili is described as a new variety. Both taxa are compared morphologically with similar taxa reported on members of Proteaceae and Elaeocarpaceae families, respectively.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
