Bamboo shoots are a unique and versatile ingredient that has been a part of traditional cuisine and medicine in India for centuries. This review article provides an overview of the culinary heritage of bamboo shoots in India, with a particular focus on the Northeast region. The article discusses the traditional methods of consumption and processing of bamboo shoots, along with the various traditional recipes that use bamboo shoots. The article also explores the nutraceutical potential of bamboo shoots and its bioactive components, along with the role of hydrogen cyanide in bamboo shoots. Furthermore, the impact of bamboo shoots on human health is analyzed. The review concludes with future prospects and the need for further research to fully understand the potential of bamboo shoots as a source of food and medicine.
Food safety is critical during pregnancy. Pregnancy hormone changes reduce immune function, making pregnant women more vulnerable to food-borne illnesses. The unborn fetus is particularly sensitive to food-borne diseases since its immune system has not yet matured. Pregnant women must be extremely cautious about what they eat since they are eating not just for their health but also for the health of their unborn babies. When a pregnant woman eats well, she reduces her chances of anemia, low birth weight, and birth defects. Herbal medication use during pregnancy is associated with a woman's age, family financial level, and educational standing. Preeclampsia risk was reduced, labor was extended, and the common cold and urinary tract infection were all treated with herbal treatments during pregnancy. Some herbal products may include ingredients that should not be eaten while pregnant. Herbs may include elements that cause fetal damage, uterine contractions, premature delivery, or miscarriage. The effects of various herbs on pregnant women or fetuses have not been well researched. Herbal drugs are subjected to quality control to ensure consistency, safety, and efficacy. According to this approach, the purpose of this review was to give succinct information on comprehensive food intake, dietary supplements, and the use of herbal items during pregnancy.
Omeprazole (OMP), which is given for treatment in conjunction with a number of medications, is drawing increased attention for its capacity to reduce gastric acid formation. Commonly administered OMP-loaded dose forms include aspirin (ASN), diclofenac (DCF) and domperidone (DMP). As a result, a single liquid chromatographic approach, which can simultaneously determine OMP-ASN, OMP-DCF or OMP-DMP in commercial formulations was developed. On a reverse-phase Agilent Eclipse XBD C18 analytical column (4.6 × 150 mm; 3.5 (m), the requisite separation was accomplished utilizing a gradient flow of the mobile phase made up of a mixture of solvents A and B (50:50 v/v) and diode array detection at 272 nm. Where solvent A is acetonitrile:buffer-A:buffer-B (10:90:50 v/v/v) and solvent B is acetonitrile:buffer-A:buffer-B (90:10:50 v/v/v). The buffer-B is made up of an equal mixture of 100 mM acetic acid and 100 mM triethyl-amine with a final attained pH of 5.2, whereas the buffer-A is made up of 10 mM trifluoroacetic acid (pH adjusted to 2.2). According to ICH Q2(R1) criteria, the method had been validated and verified the senstivity of the proposed method with a linearity range of 0.5-20 mcg/mL for all the analytes. The established technique for concurrently quantifying OMP with DCF, ASN or DMP in commercial formulations can be regularly employed in the quality control laboratory in accordance with the validation conditions.
Background Sickle cell disease is a fatal systemic condition characterized by acute painful episodes, persistent anemia, ongoing organ damage, organ infarction, and a markedly shorter average lifetime. It first appeared in the tropics' malarial zones, where carriers benefit from an evolutionary advantage by being shielded from malaria death. Due to demographic shifts, this crisis now affects people all over the world. In higher-income areas, such as vast swaths of Europe and North and South America, more children are born with the syndrome. Main body Over the last 10 years, a clearer knowledge of the change from fetal to adult hemoglobin has evolved. Further investigation into chimerism, genomics, mixed gene editing, and therapeutic reactivation of fetal hemoglobin has produced very promising findings. Between 2017 and 2019, three innovative medications for sickle cell disease were approved by the FDA thanks to previous advances, while many more treatments are now under development. Short conclusion To improve patient outcomes, various innovative medications that were created in the late 1990s and utilized to treat sickle cell disease are examined in this study. In our appraisal, we'll also focus on the most important developments of the decade.
Black fungus is the latest threat to the patients who just recovered from the covid-19. Black fungus is a type of mucormycosis infection, predominantly seen in patients with co-morbidities, mainly diabetes, cancer, immunocompromised infections, and organ transplant. Rising black fungus cases are not only a major aesthetic problem disrupting the medical and socioeconomic system, but it also senses another upcoming pandemic in India. Black fungus has a clinical appearance that is indistinguishable from other common illnesses at first, and it is invariably deadly unless diagnosed early or untreated vigorously. Rapid and precise diagnostic procedures, as well as the availability of less toxic, more effective antifungal drugs like posaconazole and isavuconazole, should be pursued as targets for improved black fungus care. The liposomal Amphotericin B had brought new rays of hope for treating black fungus by providing better efficacy amongst people. Since there is a dearth of literature regarding the management of black fungus patients, the article focused on the incidences, prevalence, diagnosis, and treatment protocol, to gain insight into the extent of this epidemic in India in 2021.
