Abstract.1 Physico-chemical properties and group composition of the virgin and used M-10DM motor oil for diesel engines were studied. IR-spectroscopy and derivatography were used for investigation. By means of X-ray fluorescence the composition of inorganic part was determined. Change in properties and composition of M-10DM before and after using are discussed.
The physico-chemical properties and group composition of the used mineral motor oils M-10DM and NORMAL 15W40, as well as the fractions obtained as a result of their thermooxidative regeneration have been studied. The results of IR-spectroscopic and X-ray fluorescence analysis of used oils and fractions obtained during thermooxidative regeneration are presented. The changes in the composition and properties of regenerated oils are described.
In the article the chemistry of the noncatalytic oxidative desulfurization process of distillate oil fractions is analyzed. The study involves the characteristics of high-sulfur straight-run diesel fraction of narrow composition (593–623 K) before and after oxidation by air at 453–493 K and a pressure of 3.0 MPa. The composition of sulfur compounds in the raw material fraction was determined. It is shown that straight-run fractions of raw materials may also contain sulfoxides, which are products of oxidation of organosulfur compounds and are formed during storage of petroleum products. On the basis of IR spectroscopic studies of raw materials, oxidized products and model mixtures, the transformation depth of fr. 593–623 K sulfur compounds, which are distributed in the form of sulfones and sulfoxides in solid and liquid oxidation products, and partially remain in the purified fuel, was analyzed in the above-mentioned process.

The scheme of the integrated regeneration method for used mineral motor oils (UMMO) has been developed, according to which M-10DM and NORMAL 15W40 used oils were regenerated. A study on changes in physico-chemical properties, qualitative and elemental composition was carried out, and a mathematical model of the process was built. The further applications of the obtained products were proposed. Based on the obtained results, the technological scheme and flow chart of UMMO integrated regeneration were developed, and the process material balance was calculated.
