Measures for prevention of homelessness should include: foundation of national registry of homeless persons, development of systemic multisectorial cooperation and special psychosocial intervention strategies. In homeless population, health care measures should be focused on prevention and treatment of mental health disorders and chronic somatic diseases.
School-based programs focused on externalizing problems in students are recognized as an important part of school life and work. The aim of this paper is the systematization of scientific studies in the form of systematic presentations and meta-analysis of school programs, in which externalising problems in students is among the criteria for assessing the effectiveness of the program. Scientific results published in English in the last seven years are included in the systematization. Bases searched during research are: Google Scholar, PsycINFO, Web of Science (WOS), Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) and Scopus. The results of the research indicate that the most successful school-based interventions resulting in the prevention and reduction of externalizing problems are based on socio-emotional learning, that they are mostly implemented by teachers, that they are incorporated into the curriculum, and that their success depends on the quality of implementation.
Domestic violence with its various manifestations and forms has captured the attention of the scientific and professional public, especially in the last few decades. The consequences it causes not only affect the individual and his personal development, but also have multiple negative implications for the narrower and wider social environment and society as a whole. Most often, women and children are victims of domestic violence, and extensive measures and a multidisciplinary approach are being taken around the world in order to prevent domestic violence and minimize the consequences. The aim of this paper is to point out the etiology and forms of domestic violence with special emphasis on violence against women and children. A phenomenon with serious social consequences that causes traumatic effects on the normal and harmonious development of children is child abuse, which manifests itself in two forms: abuse and neglect. Through the review and results of numerous studies and foreign professional literature, we will point out the prevalence of the phenomenon. In the last part of the paper, we will point out the negative implications of abuse and violence on the mental and physical integrity of the victim, primarily women and children.
The abuse of psychoactive substances, which often turns into drug addiction, is a serious global problem that is receiving increasing attention with the scientific and professional public. The consequences of this plague are numerous and incalculable both for the individual and for his narrower and wider social environment, but also for society as a whole. The family of addicts is the first to feel the consequences of drug addiction, but also the first to influence young people to enter the world of drugs. The aim of this paper is to review all the potentials that the family has, which should be used in the process of treatment and resocialization of addicts. We will also point to the family as a risk factor that can contribute to the occurrence of drug problems in its members, especially those in adolescence. The discussion of risk and protective factors related to the family is motivated by the fact that the adolescent still belongs to the family system and depends on it. The attitudes he has developed within the family system affect other family members and vice versa.
Paedophilia is a specific disorder in a spectre of sexual affinities in humans, which is in the nomenclature of the World Health Organization in the group of sexual preference disorders or paraphilia. Due to mobility, inventiveness, and invisibility, there is no relevant statistical data about this deviation’s volume and extensiveness. This paper aims to determine the prevalence of paedophiles in the general population based on an anonymous survey, the number of processed perpetrators of sexual offenses toward children, and the number of unique visitors of the Internet “decoy”. The research data were gathered through an anonymous survey (the survey was created for this research purposes, and it was an indirect, written survey) that enveloped a total of 658 individuals (60.49% males and 39.51% females) through the creation of a virtual Internet profile (1095 visitors, 89.86% males and 10.14% females), as well as through the statistical data of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia (MUP RS) and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia (Directorate for Enforcement of Criminal Sanctions) over the last six years. The prevalence of paedophilia in the general population is 2.13%, and the majority is between 30 and 50 years of age. There are no relevant data on the treatment of paedophiles in penitentiary conditions. The number of submitted criminal charges for crimes with sexual violence elements toward children is much larger than the number of verdicts for the said acts. The number of crimes of sexual offenses against children in the analysed period was 1,288. Paedophilia is a complex disorder that poses a threat to public health. It is under-researched, and it calls for a multidisciplinary approach in research with the goal of preventing these forms of behaviour and the protection of children from sexual abuse.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
