Reductive N-O Cleavage of Weinreb Amides by Sodium in Alumina and Silica Gels: Synthetic and Mechanistic Studies. -Sodium metal trapped in the nanoscale pores of alumina gel efficiently reduces Weinreb amides (I) in simple batch reaction mode.
