RESUMONeste trabamos amostras de peixes (Satanoperca pappaterra (cará), Schizodon altoparana (lambari), Serrasalmus marginatus (piranha), Acestrorhynchus lacustres (peixe cachorra) e Piaractus mesopotamicus (pacu) foram coletadas nos rios Preto, Turvo e Grande durante as estações seca e chuvosa. Crômio, cobre, níquel, zinco e mercúrio foram quantificados no tecido de peixe e relacionado com os diferentes hábitos alimentares. Foram estabelecidas as seguintes ordens de acumulo de metais para as espécies de peixes em função do hábito alimentar: herbívoro -Fevereiro >> Ni> Cu> Cr> Hg, July Zn>> Ni> Cu> Hg> Cr; Carnívoro -Fevereiro Zn> Ni> Cu> Hg> Cr; July Ni> Zn> Cu> Cr> Hg.
