Abstract:The primary objective of this study is to examine the relationship between supply chain social capital and firm performance and whether the supply chain role of a firm (supplier, manufacturer, distributor, logistics provider) has a moderating effect on the positive relationship between the dimensions of social capital and the firm performance. The results show that three dimensions of social capital directly affect firm performance. Further, the supply chain role moderates the relationship between three dimensions of social capital and overall firm performance. Owing to the differences in the results across the supply chain roles, three dimensions of social capital are more likely to improve firm's performance based on its role in the supply chain. This paper uses the partial least squares (PLS) structural equation model to analyse a set of survey data from respondents of companies in Korea. Keywords: social capital; supply chain social capital; supply chain role.Reference to this paper should be made as follows: Leem, B.H. and Rogers, K.J.
