Considering that management t constitutes one of the most important pieces of the overall military puzzle, this paper discusses various management approaches applied in tactical military networks. Specifically, the paper refers to 3G wireless military management systems presenting management/control operations, tasks and schemes that can guarantee battlefield supremacy. Also, the paper discusses several issues concerning the migration of current tactical management systems to open, flexible and modular systems, which cover current needs and can be readily adaptable to tomorrow's changing requirements. INTRODUCTIONAs wireless becomes more essential in the daily lives of the public and private, competitive pressures to serve the military have dictated predictive and controllable cost factors that must be efficiently managed for success [1], [2]. New schemes, scenarios, tools are needed as the wireless tactical network settles down to automate, diagnose, raise quality and manage the attributes of the military network. Also, tactical users are generating unprecedented demand for high-speed access military networks. Yet delivering broadband data, voice, and video services over traditional wireline media is not always feasible or cost-effective. Alternative solution is needed for high-speed access that provides quick deployment, network scalability, and economical service delivery. This only can be provided by the development of 3G wireless tactical network delivering the best network performance and coverage possible. Performance and scalability in tactical wireless networks also depends upon capabilities in the headend system [3]. The modern 3G tactical wireless system should support point-to-point applications, delivering data rates in Mbps rates fullduplex within a satisfactory connection distance.
