This feasibility study has shown that the Given patency capsule is a safe, effective, and convenient tool for assessment of functional patency of the small bowel. It can indicate functional patency even in cases where traditional radiology indicates stricture.
: Although SICUS and ileocolonoscopy provide different views of the small bowel, SICUS shows a significant correlation with the endoscopic findings. SICUS may represent an alternative noninvasive technique for assessing CD recurrence after ileocolonic resection.
The present findings suggest that SICUS and WCE may be used as noninvasive techniques for the assessment of recurrence of CD in patients being regularly followed up after ileocolonic resection.
SUMMARY BackgroundInfliximab and adalimumab are highly effective in Crohn's Disease (CD). This is supported by clinical trials and open-label studies using either infliximab or adalimumab, thus not allowing a proper comparison between these anti-TNFs in CD.
