This study was carried out in a slaughterhouse of Central Department, City of Asuncion, in order to determine the prevalence and the economic losses caused by the presence of Fasciola hepatica in bovine livers. For this purpose, bovine livers were sampled without distinction of race, sex, age, coming from different areas of the country during the month of April. The number of livers inspected was 4179 of the bovine species, of which 24 livers tested positive for Fasciola hepatica, representing 0.6% of prevalence, most positive cases came from the Department of Misiones. This work was done in the Goats Division, Didactic Farm, Faculty of Veterinary Science-UNA, to assess the load parasitic in goats, using diatomaceous earth freshwater. To do this, 35 caprine animals, with gastrointestinal parasitosis, milk producing breeds were selected, regardless of sex. extractions stool samples from each animal, every 10 days, which were subjected to coproparasitological analysis by the method of Mc performed. Master, so to know the parasitic load, and identify the eggs of parasites frequently in the samples. He proceeded to feed them for 90 days with a ration containing 2% diatomaceous earth freshwater daily, morning and afternoon. Food supply was made at the rate of 1.5% by weight of each animal. They could be observed the following results: In the initial sampling (0), an average of 5,483 EPG parasite load is observed. and the final sample (9), with an average of 137 EPG parasitic load, showing a statistically significant decrease in the parasite load (p<0.05).
