The application of motional Stark-effect and laser fluorescence techniques for the determination of magnetic fields is demonstrated in a model-experiment. Two dye lasers are used to excite atoms from a 30 keV Li-beam by a two-step process (2S-2P-4D) in a pulsed magnetic field. The fluorescence intensity is measured as function of laser wavelength and compared with the calculated profiles. From the Zeeman pattern of the 2S-2P transition the field strength is deduced, too.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
