Despite the fact that progress has been made in the application of supramolecular prodrug self-assembliest o enhance the functionality of drug-delivery systems, corresponding research on multi-responsive supramolecular prodrug self-assemblies for programmedd rug delivery is still limited. In this paper,t he synthesis and self-assembly behavior of supramolecularp rodrug complexes( SPCs) with b-cyclodextrin-acylhydrazone-doxorubicin (b-CD-hydrazone-DOX) and the targeting of azobenzene-terminated poly[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate] (Azo-PDMA-FA) as a building block were investigated. The obtained SPCs could also form self-assemblies on the basis of their amphiphilic nature. Next, SPC-based multi-compartment vesiclesa nd complex micelles, which were confirmed by transmission electron microscopy and dynamic/static light scattering, were obtained with good reversibility under alternative visible light or UV irradiation. Furthermore, three-stage programmed drug-delivery behavior was observed from dual-re-sponsiveS PC-based self-assemblies by utilizing UV and pH stimuli.S pecifically,t he SPCs first self-assembled into multicompartmental vesicles, which was accompanied by as low releaseo fD OX. Next, UV-light irradiation induced the dissociation of b-CD/Azo,w hich led to morphologyt ransition and as light increaseinthe rate of releaseofDOX. Upon transferring the self-assemblies to phosphate-buffer solution (pH 5.0), the releaser ates increased notably as ar esult of the broken acylhydrazone bond. Finally,b asic cell experiments further demonstrated that the SPC-based self-assemblies could be internalized into cancerc ells, which suggests their promise for applicationsinc ancer therapy.Scheme1.Morphology transition of supramolecular prodrugcomplex self-assemblies and their programmed drug-release behaviorregulated by UV lighta nd pH.
Objective: This study was aimed to explore the impact of fish oil (Omega-3 fatty acids) on hostility and psychopathology among patients with acute violent schizophrenia. Method: Sixty seven acute hospitalized patients demonstrating violent behavior in the context of a schizophrenic illness, treated with antipsychotics, were randomly assigned to a supplement with either fish oil (N=32) or placebo (N=35) in a double-blind, placebocontrolled trial. Assessments were conducted at the baseline, week 4 and week 8. Results: The symptoms and hostility decreased after treatment for 4 and 8 weeks in both groups, with no group differences. Conclusions: The current study did not find improvements in symptoms or hostility from the Omega-3 fatty acid supplementation in patients with schizophrenia. The implication is that Omega-3 fatty acids do not reduce psychopathology and hostility in acute patients with schizophrenia.
In this paper, the principle of coherent gradient sensing (CGS) technology is briefly introduced. Fracture behaviour of the PMMA specimens with single or double cracks under three-point-bending are studied using the CGS optical method. A series of CGS fringe patterns under different loading are abtained. With these fringes, stress intensity factors are caculated. The influences of the different spacing on stress intensity factors are discussed. These results will be useful for researching on strength of PMMA materials.
The stress-strain curve in the large plastic deformation process is always not available due to the strain gauge deficiencies in large deformation measurement. Considering this problem, digital marker identification technique is used to measure large deformation of Steel Q235 with images taken by with charge-coupled device. Then together with the deformation measured by traditional stain gauge at small deformation stage, the total stress and strain curve is obtained at macroscale. The mesoscopic deformation is measured by a material testing system assembled with scanning electronic microscope. The images from the initial stage to the rupture stage are captured synchronously. What’s more, using the grid method, the strain and rotation in rational mechanics is analyzed.
