ABSTRACT: This article aims to describe the role of rural youth in strengthening family farming cooperatives, pointing out their historical aspects, the main difficulties and challenges faced by this audience. To this end, a bibliographic survey was carried out in journals published in national databases. Through the readings and analyzes carried out, important information was identified to understand the advances and achievements of cooperative and family farming. As a result, it was realized that the problem of rural exodus is common and persistent, involving mainly young people. This fact is due to structural issues and the social imaginary built around rural space as a synonym for the delay; by the search for better opportunities in urban spaces that guarantee them socioeconomic improvements and also by the absence of public policies to encourage the permanence of these young people in rural areas. Keywords: Rural Youth. Family Farming. Cooperatives.
