ABSTRACT:The polymer poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) was irradiated with X-rays produced by a nonmonochromatic (MgKa) source and the structural and electronic PVDF surface modifications were studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Changes in the shape and intensity of the C 1s and F 1s lines show that a PVDF degradation consisting of the polymer defluorination takes place.
The transitions from the solid crystal to liquid crystal, from isotropic liquid crystal as well as the transitions between different mesomorphic states could be interpreted in terms of synergetic and nonlinear dynamics.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
