A family farm is an important part of the countryside, both economically and especially socially. In recent years, legislative measures have encouraged the development of large farms, ensuring food security while neglecting family farms, which are characterised by a lack of organisation, the absence of proper classification and the absence of measures to encourage their development and protection. In order to identify the premises underlying the development of family farms, and to create a development model for those family farms in a poor economic situation, the BMC method and SWOT analysis of seven family farms considered successful models were used. The development of these types of farms could provide a solution to a major problem facing the Romanian countryside: the depopulation of rural areas. The results of the study show that the development of these types of farms is based on joining an associative form (cooperatives) and/or making investments in the processing/storage line of agricultural products.
The aim of the present study was to assess the influence of two varieties of rhubarb (Glanskin�s Perpetual and De Moldova) and two densities, 10.000 and 13.300 pl/ha on the content of macro (K, Ca, P, Mg, Fe and S), micro�elements (Al, Si and Mn), organic acids (tartaric, oxalic, citric, malic and ascorbic) and total production. The content of oxalic acid in the four versions ranged from 2.3 mg/mL juice in the case of Glanskin�s perpetual cultivation, with the density of 13.300 pl/ha at 3.8 mg/mL in the case of the Moldova variety at the same density. The content of tartaric acid varied in wide limits from 1.75 mg/mL juice to 6.5 mg/mL juice. The content of macro-elements varied within wide limits, the report being: Fe ] K ] Mg ]S ] P ] Ca. The largest production was obtained at the variety De Moldova with density of 13.300 pl/ha.
Aluminum in excess could cause diseases, affecting bones, brain, liver, heart, spleen, as well as muscles. Aluminum in higher concentrations is found in tap water since aluminum compounds are used for water treatment before being supplied. Furthermore, aluminum foils and coatings are used in the processes of cans and boxes packaging, especially for foods and beverages, taking into account its capacities as efficient barrier. The aim of the present studies was represented by the comparison of aluminum packaging waste generation in two areas from Iasi county, a rural and an urban one. Meanwhile, we compared the ratio of aluminum packaging waste and total packaging waste generation, as well as the ratio of aluminum packaging waste and total waste generation in the studied areas. We found a statistical significant difference of 71.31 % (as average) between the aluminum packaging waste quantities in urban and rural zones. Aluminum packaging waste was considered to be any packaging coated by or including aluminum. We were not able to differentiate the aluminum foil wrap from other parts of packaging. Moreover, it seems to exist a small difference of the ratios of aluminum packaging waste and total packaging waste generation in urban area and rural one, but not statistically significant. The selective recycling is almost impossible in rural zones, the lack of education and of means representing the major challenges. The difficulties in managing the waste having as an important component the aluminum packaging could increase the risks for human health.
In recent years, climate change has begun to put pressure on humanity and affect natural and human systems. The aim of this paper is to provide an improved understanding of the state of the literature on the impacts of climate change that can be addressed through measures related to disaster risk reduction, sustainable agricultural practices, and the circular economy. This review also represents a valuable and fundamental reference for both researchers and practitioners in these fields. A total of 74,703 articles (climate change adaptation, 45,030; disaster risk reduction, 5920; sustainable agricultural practices, 7940; circular economy, 15,813) published between 1990 and 2022 were extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection, and the links between these areas were mapped using VOSviewer. There has been an increase in the amount of published research on these four topics since 2007, indicating the increasing involvement of researchers to address these topics, influenced by the concerns of national and international bodies to address these changes.
The importance of sustainable development has started to be acknowledged in Romania as well, once the various pollution sources and the restrictions affecting industrial and agricultural pollution were identified, from an economic and ecological standpoint. Sustainable development represents the need of raising awareness about environmental protection and educating people, and this aspect is reflected by the evolution of communal policies in recent years, policies marked by a shift from an approach based on constraints and sanctions to a higher level of flexibility, based on incentives. The purpose of this paper is to make a recommendation for improving existing policy by making an assessment of economic incentives in order to stimulate farmers to adopt sustainable farming systems of a viable, sustainable agriculture, capable to apply the newest technologies and lead to profit and efficiency, to the economical and organizational consolidation. To analyse the effects of different zone packages on income of farmers and the environment a linear programming model is developed for a typical, 192 ha mixed farm in the Iasi region plain pilot area. The major activities of the farm is keeping dairy cattle, growing fodder (grass, alfalfa, silage maize) and cash crops (winter wheat and maize).
