Highlights
Children with COVID 19 disease are less symptomatic but they can be potential agents of transmission.
Most children with symptoms from COVID 19 disease (cough, fever, respiratory difficulties) show bnormalities in CXR.
Findings in CXR are non-specific and superimpose on other viral pneumonias.
Peripheral distribution of lung abnormalities is not a distinctive feature in paediatric population.
CXR have a role in the management of the disease in children.
Case ReportA 59-year-old man, with degenerative arthritis, was treated daily with 1 capsule ofMyolastan® (50 mg tetrazepam). 20 days after beginning treatment, and 8 h after the last dose, he developed an itchy maculopapular rash and tightness of the chest, without wheezing. His physician treated him with corticosteroids and the rash disappeared in 24 h.2 months later, prick tests with bromazepam 5%, diazepam 5 mg!ml, Myolastan® 5%, and tetrazepam 5% in saline-glycerol solution were made, and patch testing carried out with the European standard series, bromazepam 1% and 5% pet., diazepam 5 mg/ml pet., Myolas-tan® pure powder (p.p.) and 1% aq., and tetrazepam p.p. and 1% aq. 10 control subjects were similarly tested. Single-blind, placebo-controlled oral challenge tests were also done with increasing doses of bromazepam, diazepam and Myolastan®, using lactose as placebo. The possible risks of the diagnostic procedures were explained to the patient and his written informed consent obtained.
Total and specific serum IgE antibodies were estimated in a 68-year-old woman with anaphylactic shock due to spontaneous rupture of hydatid cyst of the liver. After she had recovered, an abdominal ultrasonography showed a cyst, 10 x 15 cm, in the right hepatic lobe. The cyst was surgically removed. Antihydatid IgE in the acute phase and periodically after surgical intervention, determined by Phadezym RAST, Pharmacia, and Pharmacia CAP system (a new solid-phase immunoassay, fully automated, for the titration of specific IgE with greater sensitivity in the detection of low IgE antibody levels), showed decreasing antihydatid IgE antibodies on day 10 after surgical intervention and may thus serve to monitor the evolution of hydatid disease.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
