The paper refers to threat assessment of dangerous goods (DG) in transportation of the European Union and the Republic of Poland. Dangerous goods in the European Union are carried by inland waterways, rail and road. In Poland 87.5% of DG have been carried by road and 12.5% by rail in 2014. DG can cause an accident and lead to fires, explosions and chemical poisoning or burning with considerable harm to people and the environment. There is not monitoring system in Poland to control in real time road transportation of dangerous goods. Proposition of National System of Monitoring Dangerous Goods in Poland was presented. Realization of mentioned kind of system may significantly contribute to improving safety of people and environment.
The article presents the influence of elements of the transport system on its final shape and quality of operation, on the example of road transport infrastructure. In addition, reference was made to the recent thesis, which is the "need to obstruct traffic" for drivers of passenger cars in cities, which may reduce passenger car traffic in their areas. In the further part of the article, selected examples of road investments were presented, together with the economic calculation calculated for them, indicating a quick payback period of the financial outlays incurred for their construction. The article was created as part of a research work entitled: "Analysis of the impact of the built road infrastructure on the level of economic activity in the surrounding territorial units", under the Operational Program Technical Assistance No. POPT.02.01.00-00-0021 / 15-00, Fri: the institution for strategic coordination of the Partnership Agreement in the years 2015-2016, implemented for the Ministry of Investment and Development and the Road Innovation Development Program (RID) organized and financed by the National Center for Research and Development and the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways (contract No. DZP / RID- I-41/7 / NCBR / 2016).
The article presents selected issues from the conducted research and analyzes in the field of the development of autonomous vehicles, carried out under the project: Polish road to Automation of Road Transport. The development of autonomous cars is a global challenge for the automotive industry. The creation of a fully autonomous vehicle capable of transporting passengers and goods without the participation of a driver has become a priority goal of automotive concerns. The huge costs incurred by automotive concerns for the development of autonomous vehicles prove the progressing automotive revolution, which will have a significant impact on the shape of future transport systems, transport based on autonomous transport. Very often in the literature there are overly optimistic forecasts for the development of autonomous vehicles, as well as overestimating the benefits they are to bring, without pointing to the costs and problems of their implementation and functioning in the real transport system. The publication presents forecasts for the development of autonomous vehicles as well as the related risks and advantages of their implementation. The factors that have a significant impact on the development of these vehicles are also outlined.
Sustainable transport development has long been active in EU policy, it is defined by various documents, defined and expressed in various guidelines, ways to achieve it. In practice, it turns out that it is not so easy, as evidenced by the functioning of transport systems of individual member states, regions, metropolitan areas or cities. In Poland, also activities are undertaken related to the implementation of the principles of sustainable transport development into transport systems, in particular large metropolitan areas and metropolitan areas. Due to the continuous development of transport and ways of its implementation, there are still many problems that constitute a barrier to introducing the principles of sustainable transport development. The following article indicates the problems of implementing the principles of sustainable development of transport in the Metropolitan Area of Warsaw (OMW).
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
