This conference paper concerns the application of optical character recognition in the processing of thermal images.Thermal images that lack colour index metadata are subjected to a custom-made program, which performs the 2. V.K Govindan and A.P Shivaprasad, "Abstract:
Noise affects the values of pixels in a thermal image. As the values of pixels will determine the appearance of the bit planes of thermal images, noise will affect the bit planes as well. Noisy thermal images have bit planes which resembles static. These bit planes will not be useful for the purpose of extracting low-level details, e.g. detecting edges and blobs. The method described in this article is intended to be utilized as a preprocessing step to identify these bit planes before any further processing steps which make use of bit planes take place.Index Terms-Bit plane slicing, thermal image processing, bit planes, low-level feature extraction.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
