Setting condition and setting location of truck escape ramps in the USA, New Zealand, South Africa, Britain, Australia and China are analyzed in detail and summarized in this paper, it is found that more comprehensive consideration is made in the USA, and it is considered that the function of quantitative analysis for setting the location of truck escape ramp is limited. Finally, clauses and clause explanations which can be adopted in standards and regulations for domestic transportation industry are formed.
Massive expressway toll data contained lots of valuable information. However, the skills of mining and analyzing toll data were limited currently. This study explored the modeling method of road network travel time reliability based on massive toll data. Firstly, this study obtained travel time data sample of each link at different months, and analyzed travel time statistical properties preliminarily. Secondly, this study used normal distribution, gamma distribution and Weibull distribution to fit travel time data sample, and different statistical indicators were involved to measure the fitting effect. Fitting results showed that normal distribution for link travel time was more rational and acceptable than the others. Thus, this study established link travel time reliability model, and proposed moment estimation method of calibrating the model parameters. In practical application, the reliability model can be used to judge traffic operating posture for expressway management department, and also can be used to forecast travel time information, to provide valuable reference on decision-making for drivers travel plan or route choice.
In recent years, an innovative Intelligent Guidance System for traffic safety under limited visibility conditions appeared and evolved. According to prevailing visibility and traffic conditions, such systems can provide roadway outline reinforcement, vehicle active guidance, rear-end collision warning functions by changing brightness, color, flashing frequency, etc. of the illuminant guidance facilities. Rear-end collision warning function is the marked feature different from traditional guidance facilities. This paper elaborates main principle, system configuration, word mode, control strategy of such system. Especially, emphasis is put on the analysis of key control parameters such as threshold of red lamp duration, quantity of trigged red lamps, which impact practical effects of such system greatly. Regarding the particular rear-end collision warning function, the author use time series chart of trigged red lamps status and list table of key parameters change to induce and optimize key control parameters configuration. The relationship of safe spacing between vehicles, advised speed limit, threshold of red lamp duration and quantity of trigged red lamps is established. And this can be referred to improve the practical effectiveness when such systems are constructed and used.
Because the current research on traffic level has not yet been achieved classification, it cannot timely and effectively provide the basis for the public transportation and safety management of the traffic control department. Introduce traffic safety index based on toll data to evaluate freeway traffic levels. Firstly, combined with the relevant indicators of traffic engineering, put forward the concept of freeway traffic safety index; secondly, calculate the traffic safety index by analyzing real-time toll data; finally, in order to improve the accuracy of evaluation, have an optimization of traffic safety index definition. Application on the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao freeway shows that traffic safety index can be combined with monitoring data to evaluate the condition of road sections and the road network, and its historical data can be used to predict the road traffic conditions, and provide effective guidance for freeway traffic safety operation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
