The prosperity of the engineering industry is the main driving force of the country’s economic development, and the smooth operation of engineering enterprises is the premise for ensuring the prosperity of the engineering industry. This study demonstrates the four dimensions of organization, leadership management, employee identification, and employee involvement, discusses the four components involved (Corporate Culture, Paternalistic Leadership, Organizational Commitment, Job Involvement) and studies their interrelationships and mutual influences. A comprehensive literature review not only makes the four components clearer but puts forward eight hypotheses. Prior to the comprehensive survey analysis, a pilot study was conducted for experienced practitioners in the industry and 311 valid questionnaires were collected. Using IBM SPSS and IBM SPSS AMOS software, the questionnaire data were analyzed by constructing a structure equation, and the results show that: (1) corporate culture is positively related to the paternalistic leadership style and organizational commitment; (2) The paternalistic leadership style is positively correlated with the organizational commitment; (3) The organizational commitment and job involvement are positively correlated; (4) Organizational commitment has an intermediary effect between corporate culture and job involvement; (5) There is no positive correlation between corporate culture and paternalistic leadership style, on the one hand, and job involvement, on the other; (6) The intermediary effect of paternalistic leadership is not significant between corporate culture and job involvement.
This study conceptualizes and empirically investigates how dimensions of public service motivation affect perceived citizenship behaviour in the context of government-owned utilities. This study used a large-scale questionnaire survey from four utility sectors in Taiwan (N = 1,087). The emergent model suggests that compassion (COM) and self-sacrifice (SS) affect the perceived effectiveness of individual-level Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB). Commitment to the Public Interest (CPI) and Attraction to Public Policy making (APP) affect perceived effectiveness of OCB at the group and organisational levels, respectively. The results support the expected contribution of OCB, from the individual to the group levels, and from the group level to the organisational level. Public utility managers should strive to improve employee attitudes and motivation towards greater levels of OCB.
Improving the governance effectiveness of river basin units (RBUs) is often the focus of academic studies. However, the literature on measuring the influencing factors of the river basin governance effectiveness in urban areas is relatively scarce. Therefore, this study employed the theory of governance across boundaries and adopted an exploratory research approach to discover influencing factors, namely Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and SPSS questionnaire survey. Resulting from the analysis of in-depth interviews, the top three attention-getting influencing factors in descending order are organizational structure, overall plan, and landscape recreation. In comparison, resulting from the quantitative analysis of the AHP questionnaire, the top three attention-getting influencing factors in descending order are flood protection, overall plan, and ecological conservation. These two findings are significantly different. This study's findings also indicate that the public's satisfaction towards the individual governance effectiveness reaches a score of 80.06. The analysis results provide a feedback to RBUs, which can be a policy for revising the plan–do–check–act (PDCA) cycle in order to improve the governance effectiveness.
