T h e results of pharmacologic studies indicated that (1) the benzene ring imparts to the biuret molecule toxic properties; (2) the piperidine ring endows to the biuret molecule favorable hypnotic and anticonvulsant properties; and (3) the biuret chain seems to be associated wlth the reduction of bxicity. Of the four new biurets studied, only IV was found to possess valuable properties. It resembles sodium pentobarbital in its pharmacologic action and is only one tenth as toxic.
