For them, it has the potential to serve as a valuable reference tool. It would be especially helpful as a supplement to a college business communication text that includes little or no grammar and mechanics information, as well as those that present such material in the hum-drum manner of an English grammar textbook. The writing in ActionGrammar is not hum-drum.Business writers who are not familiar with letter and memo formats may find the suggestions in the appendix confusing. The recommended lines (assumed to be blank lines) for spacing the formats of letters and memos follow neither standard practice nor current reference manual recommendations for these document formats.
