<2A>where the U represents the 12 independent x-ray intensity values in Equation 1A (expressed as the total number of counts measured rather than as counting rate). Pencil and paper evaluation of Equation 2A is very tedious even for a three-component system, but is calculated easily in the computer program for finding the R's.The approximation of 2A has been found to yield the same values of as a Monte Carlo procedure. The comparison tests were made on the NAREC computer at the Naval Research Laboratory and will be described elsewhere.
SCHWARZENBACHand coworkers (1, 4, 5) suggested the use of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (commonly known as Versene) as a complexing agent for the alkaline earth and other metals and as a titrant for the sum of calcium and magnesium in water using Eriochrome Schwartz T (Indicator F 241) as an indicator. Diehl, Goetz, and Hach (B) studied this method further, especially as applied to the determination of the total hardness, the calcium hardness, and the magnesium hardness of waters. Because the direct titration of a solution containing
useful if the user wishes to have the unknown compared to specific library compounds.(3) A histogram is also presented for each unknown of the number of library compounds which yielded a given value of the disagreement criterion. These compounds satisfy any prefiltering conditions and have been calculated over the requisite mass range. (Compounds which have been rejected because the disagreement criterion exceeded the 10th best member are not included in the histogram.) This feature is particularly useful in determining the distribution of the disagreement criterion beyond the top ten list.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
