A series of new cyclic imide: isoindoline-1, 3-dione derivatives were synthesized by condensation of 2-hydrazinyl-2oxo-N-phenylacetamide and phthalic anhydride. The characterization of synthesized compounds was done by IR, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR and mass spectroscopy. All these synthesized compounds were tested for in vitro antimicrobial against various bacterial and fungal strains in N, N-dimethyl formamide and Dimethyl sulfoxide. It is observed that almost all the compounds showed moderate antimicrobial activity and N, N-dimethyl formamide is better solvent than dimethyl sulfoxide.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
